Queer Eye is a show where five gay men makeover someone's life essentially. They help them with their fashion, home, grooming, culture, and food. Each one of the "fab five" tackles a different section of the "hero's" life. The hero is what they call the person they are making over. Tan France is fashion, Karamo Brown is culture, Antoni Porowski is food and wine, Bobby Berk is home decor, and Johnathan Van Ness is grooming.

In the third episode of their Netflix series, "Dega Don't," bring up a conversation that no one was expecting to get into. The episode starts with the Fab five driving to their Hero's home when unexpectedly they get pulled over. Karamo Brown is driving and he is black so he suddenly got nervous and said: "I am aware of this type of cop." The cop asks him to step out of the car so he does even though the other members of QE are very hesitant and asking the cop "why does he need to step out?" Turns out that the cop was pulling a prank on them and was actually the nominator (the person that nominates the hero for the show). They all then laughed but this brought up a bigger issue that they dive into later in the episode.

Later in the episode, Karamo sits down with their hero who is a cop and they have a conversation about the relationship between black people and the police and what that is like for both of them. Karamo shares a lot about how his son did not want to get his license because he was scared about being shot by a cop, and as a father how that made him feel.

The cop mentioned how just like all black people don't want to be lumped together as criminals all cops don't want to be lumped together as the bad guy either. This was a breakthrough conversation for Karamo (if you want to read more about what this meant to him check out my other post) but that does not make the fact that this is a problem any less of an issue.
